Postby Bernd Lorenz aka Tazzmaschine » 24.04.2011, 08:15

Hello Wrestlingjunkies,
today my guest comes from Ireland
Please welcome Ballymun Bruiser.

Hello and thank you for this interview.
No bother.

Can you please tell the fans who you are?
Im 'The Man With The Golden Can' The Ballymun Bruiser, i've been wrestling nearly 8 years. Been all over europe. I've wrestled some of the best talent in the world. Including guys from WWE TNA ROH ECW JAPAN and many many more. I'm Currently Irelands Heavyweight Champion, and I am a trainer for the Leading School in Professional Wrestling DCW gym, and you can see me defend my title on any DCW show.

How do you come to the decision to be a Pro wrestler?
It seemed a natural decision when i discovered that there was a pro wrestling school in Ireland opening up, I seen an Ad on TV, made a call, and went down to the gym just a day later, it was just a hole in the wall with a wrestling ring but it was All I needed.

What was it like to be in the ring as a wrestler for the first time? Was it exciting or was
it hard for you to wrestle in front of a live crowd?
I didnt Mind the Live crowd, At least i dont think so. I practicly tripped tho when getting in the ring, That was rather embarssing but at least i dont think anyone noticed ha. My first match only lasted about 10mins which was grand I only remember two things. Mad Man Manson side walk slamming me, and After the match WWE's Matt Striker came up to me and said my punchs looked great. He didnt know that i was from a boxing backround and was just throwing down. Great fun tho.

When you get inside the Ring what is your Favorite Rule,Heel or Face? And why?
Been in the ring is my favorite part, Weather im been paid to be a bad guy or a good guy it's all the same, I just love been in the ring performing, entertaining. It's what i do best.

You wrestle in Ireland for the Dublin Championship Wrestling and became the first ever DCW Heavyweight Champion in a Fatal
Four Way Elimination Match. How does it feel in this moment?
It was good. The crowd where really really into it. And the match went well. As soon as I pinned Vic and won the belt the crowd jumped into the ring and hoisted me up on there shoulders, They made the match for me it was a really really fun night by all accounts. Unfortunatly tho, I suffered a concussion after the match, Im not too sure where in the match i picked it up. But about two hours after the show I started to get sick, And i couldnt stop getting sick , I was whiter than i normally am, and i was burning up. DCW held an after party which was very nice of them, unfortunatly tho i didnt get to enjoy it with the whole vomit issue, All in all tho it was a great night for Irish wrestling and me. Many more to come with DCW

Here in germany i heared something about wrestling in ireland but when you have to told a fan from outside of ireland what
means wrestling in ireland what will you say?
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dublin-Ch ... 0189369934 or dublinwrestling.ie for more information

When you look in the future is there anything you want to do in wrestling or a match you are dreaming for?
In wrestling of course my dream is the same as any other pro wrestler to work for WWE, if that doesnt happen then i'll settle for making a living in that squared circle. Its rough it's tough and its prob the hardest job to have. But maybe i enjoy the pain or im secertly insane, but it's the job for me . Other than that im also loving training the next weave of wrestlers. If there's any ladies or gents that are looking to get into wrestling please check out the DCW wrestling school gym page, http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002234918108

You called youself Ballymum Bruiser,is there a story behind the name?
Not really i didnt really have a choice in the name, I was wrestling under various differnt names for the first few months. Then one saturday morning i was on the way down to cork which is about a 4 hour journey for a show. A promoter txt me saying your the ballymun bruiser tonight see you at 4. I liked it. I stuck with it , So thats really the story behind the name. I guess because im from ballymun was where it came from (Ballymun is a town in dublin known for its crime and generally been a bad area)

Ballymun Bruiser sounds a littlebit like The Belfast Bruiser also known as Fit Finlay. Is Finlay an Idol for yourself?
Finlay has done amazing things in Pro wrestling who wouldnt he be an idol for. My name isnt based on him tho. personally i didnt even know that he called himself that until i was asked a similar question. But hey it is an honor when people think im named after him

And when you look at your time in Wrestling can you share some highlights with us?
Theres many, Working with guys like Eugene Doug Basham Kid Kash balls mahony, ya learn alot and thats always a highlight, I've featured on many televison shows, theres been documentarys made on some of my time in wrestling. It's all just been really fun so far. Theres way to many high lights to count or tell. Of course Winning the DCW heavyweight title was a huge highlight and one that will stay with me. But i try to have fun. I had a loser wears a dress matchs about 4years ago, and i done it up and down Ireland, And i also done it in wales. Now thats a real highlight , In seriousness tho, wrestlings been kind to me so far many fond moments and many more to come I hope.

When you go on a roadtrip to a show somtimes it comes to good funny roadstroys, do you also have one?
Roadstories theres many. Not to many of them are prob suitible for your readers , pretty much anytime you step out your frontdoor with Mad Man Manson you end up with a funny story. But anyway , Im traveling with wwe's Doug Basham and Balls Mahony and we are following a car with the promoter and other wrestling lads, its late and we are on back arse roads with no real lighting with serious bends. To describe these roads better, picture a horror film where a car breaks down on a tiny deserted road and the evil mutated killer just so happens to live on that exact road, getting the picture? scared? we were . So We are on the evil mutated killer inhabited road, and the car in front stops and puts a boot on our windscreen then continues on, We then realise it's Dougs wrestling boot, Doug not wanting to give in to the joke leaves his boot on the windscreen, until he realises his Ipod is in the boot, he pulls it into the car in a laughing panic, Then the car stops again and now a pack of news papers get's put on our windscreen, same thing we try leave it there, until with the speed we were going and the wind the bundle of papers flys up onto our windscreen covering our vison completly, we try to pull in safely. We then started getting a bit annoyed thinking its getting dangerous now, our driver also isnt the best in the world and I dont think realised his car had a 5th gear. Anyway by the time the papers are off our windscreen we cant see the car we are following, so we keep going not having a notion where the hell to go, Then we see the pack of comedians behind us, asuming there final rib was to have us in front lost. after this went on for the best part of an hour starting with the boot, And we all came from a show we knew we wanted sleep, and balls wanted whiskey. So our driver thinking he would be oh so clever wouldnt let the guys over take us, and decided to drive in the two lanes. Nearing a bend we then see lights up ahead very close to us. The driver swerves off the road to avoid a nasty mess. So with us on the side of the road, our friends then decided to boot off home, leaving us lost until one of us, (I cant remember who so im taking the credit ) seen a sign and remembered the way from there. Dont worry tho turns out it was all the promoters idea, the next day at the show his speakers went missing right up until door opening time . Revenge best served before bell time

Where do you work now for?Do you work outside the DCW?
I work In england alot and other countries, Im also working in Portugal next weekend for WP so any portugese fans check out http://wrestlingportugal.com/

Now let us go into the past, your Childhood Wrestlinghero?
It differs, I actually really loved Demolition as a tag team,Good owl Axe and Smash I dunno if it was the face paint the studs or just the hole been monstors but i loved them.

Many people comes over the WWE to be a fan. Do you watch WWE or TNA Show in TV?
No I just dont have the time anymore to watch weekely televison, Ill catch the odd show here and there but not reguarly

Do you remember the first wrestlingmatch that you seen?
Not the first, I remember always liking wrestling but i dont know when it started, see my dad watched wrestling so I think i must have started watching it with him, My mam tells a story of when i was 1 or 2 (before i could talk) she bathed me everynight at 7, one saturday night she wanted to give me the bath and me dad was watching wrestling i was in the pram facing the tv, when she took me away to bath me (Apparently i normally loved the baths. not anymore tho, shower all the way now ) Anyway she took me out of the pram and i started crying, I kept crying all through the bath when she put me back in front of the tv i stopped. She reckons it was the start of my love for the buisness. I reckon it was me giving her a hint that i didnt wanna be bathed.

And what do the men behind The Bruiser when you not stands in the ring?
When Im not standing in a wrestling ring, Im generally standing in a differnt ring, I boxed for many years, competed in many amature boxing events, Then that moved to Kick boxing then that mover to jiu jitsu I generally fight constantly , I love combat sports. When im not doing that, im like every other nerd , xbox, comics, or spending a night with the girl friend,

At the last something to say to your fans ?
Thanks so much for the support over the past 8 years, it's been a fun and random road, and i plan on staying on it, weather you boo cheer or go to the toilet during my matchs i really hope you go home entertained. For those that have never heard of me and just decided to read fair play. and thanks, I hope you found it somewhat entertaining, If your on facebook, There is also A facebook page for Myself http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001635716165 , if the link does not work.
