Michael Knight Interview with the German Highlight

Postby Bernd Lorenz aka Tazzmaschine » 16.01.2010, 09:48

Hello Wrestlingfans,
today i have one young Wrestlingtalent from germany as my guest.
Here is The German Highlight Michael Knight.

Michael you wrestle since 2005 ,what was your inspiration to be a ProWrestler?
Well, I was a Wrestlingfan since always, and one day I figured out that there is actually wrestling in germany as well,So I visited a show in Hamburg! I didnt expect too much, cause I couldnt imagine that theese guys could be nearly as good as the wrestlers I watched on television for years. But to be honest - the most of them were even better! Until today I believe that many of the indy-workers (all over the world!) are better than the most guys from wwe when it comes down to pure wrestling!
Anyway, my inspiration to become a wrestler by myself was a man named "The Bountyhunter" Eric Schwarz who - I figured out later - trained in the Hart-Dungeon and impressed me with his size and charisma. So I took professional training at the GWF-school in Berlin and....here we go!

Trained by the GWF Pro Wrestling School you had your first match 2005. How was it for the first time in front of a live
crowd inside the ring?
Exciting of course! But it was great anyway and even before I had my first match I knew this is what I want to do. I remember that I got my lip busted open by a spinkick of my opponent and I thought "hm..good start! Hopefully that doesnt happen every time now!" After the match I was pretty proud of the wound cause the lip was all swollen and I said: "So? You still think its show or what?"

In the first years you wrestle in germany, dansk, scotland, austria and the netherlands. How was it wrestle in this
countrys?

Its always different but it is also always a great experience and the opportunity to travel to other places is one of the best things in wrestling buisness! I didnt travel to far yet, but I can say Vienna was a beautiful city for example. I was a bit disapointed bout the trip to scotland, but just because we didnt have the time to see sights like Loch Ness or the Highlands. But I will go back this year and I think we will have some more time.
I was in Danmark nearly every month last year and Im very thankful for the regular work and good opponents!

Then you win the first Belt. The DWA Cruiserweight Championship in a Four Way Elimination against Red Devil (c), Baca
Loco and Lazio Fee. What do you feel holding the first title in your hands?

On one hand it felt pretty good of course, but on the other it always putted a bit preasure on me cause like a wise man said once "not the belt makes the wrestler - the wrestler makes the belt" so I always tried to defend my titles as good as possible to protect and raise the worth of it.

But this is not the only championship you win. You also CWN Mittelgewichtsmeisterschaft Champion and 2 times MWA
International Heavyweight Champion and you are still holding both titels, what do you think is the driving force behind
your title winning?
The driving force is always different, I think!
To win the CWN-Middleweight belt for me was personal cause I failed several times on the former champion Tommy End. I really needed to prove that Im better than him, and finally did it in February 2009.
Winning the MWA-International Championship was special cause I beat my long time rival Steve Douglas and defended the belt in the rematch. MWA has the biggest crowds in germany and Im proud to hold the belt for the second time already!

2009 you win another Championship. At the American Rampge Tour in Germany you win the AWR No Limits
Championship in a three Way Match against the Champion Dunkan Disorderly and Shawn Maxer. What do you think in this
moment when the bell rings and you win?
Well...imagine you would win a belt which was also held by Rob Van Dam and Rene Dupree on a tour with guys like RVD, Rene, Sabu, X-Pac, Scotty 2 Hotty and Bret Hart... how would you feel? Right! It was just great! The complete tour was just amazing! I was able to defend the title against Sean Maxer Brennan and Dunkan Disorderly (who are both great talents!) at the second day before I lost the belt to Pac in a three way with El Generico!

Let me go one year back. MWA Lübeck in Germany.03 Okt 2008 you wrestle the Ring of Honor Star and 2 times RoH Tag
Team Champion Davey Richards. One of the best Matches 2008 in germany says the fans. How was this Night and Fight
for yourself?
Davey Richards was one of my favorite wrestlers before we had a match already, and he still is!
I like his intense and agressiv style and he's definetely the one who had the best matches in 2009!
To wrestle Davey was awesome and Im very happy the match turned out to be a good one.But I think we would be able to do better in a rematch! I really hope I'll get the chance to fight with him again before someone puts him under a contract!

And 2009 is another Match in germany high at the Tops. CWN ,11 Sep you wrestle against Zack Sabre Jr for the
Mittelgewichtsmeisterschaft Title and defend the Belt. Who will be your dream oppenent for the next Match?
There are loads of great workers I would like to mess with! But if I really would have to choose one for my next match it would be Richards!
When you look in the future is there a dream in wrestling for you? Wrestle in the USA or Japan or Canada?

Why you say "or"? I would love to work in each of these countrys! The USA has a very good independent scene and it would be great to work for PWG or ROH of course. But it depends on connections and on people who are willing to give you a chance to proof what you can do.

Thank you Michael Knight for this Interview.

Ja ich verstehe was Du meinst.
