WJ:
Hello Nigel,
First I want to say that it’s a great honor for me that you are giving us an interview.
WJ:
My first question is how are you thinking about wrestling in Germany and how you feel about your 7 matches that you have had here?
Nigel:
To be honest I probably don't remember what half of them were. But I always enjoy coming to Germany where the fans are really respectful and good.
WJ:
What are your thoughts about the case, that the WWE is partly booking big talents from RoH (like CM Punk) bad (Sure, the World Heavyweight Title Run was not bad for him, but I mean I heard from many people that he had much better matches in RoH than now in WWE) ?
Nigel:
don't really understand the question. WWE is a different style than ROH, some people prefer WWE some prefer ROH. I think Punk's had good matches in both and I'm sure he's perfectly happy with his position now.
WJ:
If you would become 3 similar contracts (1 from RoH, one from WWE and one from TNA) would you then stay at Ring of Honor or go to World Wrestling Entertainment or Total Nonstop Action? And Why? (I hope this is not a standard question)
Nigel:
Tough to say. the physical toll in ROH is biggest, but then the freedom and schedule and family is the best. Point is, you can't get similar contracts from all three places so it's irrelevant.
WJ:
You were the longest reigning RoH Pure Champion and only had to give the title away because they wanted to unit it with the World Title and let you loose your title against Bryan Danielson. How do you feel about your run?
Nigel:
I'm very proud of it. had a lot of fun with it too. gave me a chance to establish my character and do some creative stuff.
WJ:
And do you see this match; also you had to give away your RoH Pure Title afterwards, as your best match ever?
Nigel:
it's up there probably. the crowd was a huge factor in it and i saw it as a huge opportunity for me to prove myself.
WJ:
You had your first match at the Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA). Those Owner is Les Thatcher, also one of your trainers. How important has Les been for your career?
Nigel:
He was fundamental in getting me off on the right foot and establishing how i viewed the business and conducted myself.
WJ:
Would you have got so much success if you hadn’t integrated parts of British wrestling to your style a few years ago?
Nigel:
definitely not. william regal always told me, if you're booked as a british wrestler you need to be able to wrestle british style.
WJ:
Could you imagine that Ring of Honor might get more attention and viewers as the 2 momentary biggest leagues (WWE and TNA)?
Nigel:
sure, if they can get the right TV deal.
WJ:
You also held the HWA Tag Team Championship twice together with Human Time Bomb. What do you prefer? Wrestling in a Team (needn’t be a permanent Tag Tam, could also be a sole tag match in a storyline) or Wrestling as a Single Wrestler?
Nigel:
prefer being a single.
WJ:
You’re now holding the RoH world Title since 6th October 2007. Do you think they will let you hold the title much longer and you could even come in the near of the length Samoa Joe’s Run had?
Nigel:
i'd like to be the longest reiging roh champion of all time. but we'll have to see, it's a pretty arduous job to be honest.
WJ:
Is there something left that you want to say?
Nigel:
just keep supporting pro wrestling, without the fans there is no wrestling.
