Hi Robin, it's Mathieu, from ECTA ! :)

I have a question (or two) I never asked you and I would like to know the answers.
When did you start wrestling and who was/were your trainer(s) ?

Thank you !

WOW! This goes quick ;-)

OK, here we go.
1) Bernd: I was very happy with the event, I was very happy with all my students and our guests.
This was indeed wrestling. That's what I also teach them.

2) European Assault: It was great standing across the ring with The Dominator again. I actually had goosebumps again, that hasn't happened for a long time.

3) Hey Mathieu: I started training in early '99 and had my first match in May '99. My trainer was an old Belgian wrestler.
Afterwards, I learned from every opponent I faced over the years.

4) Walking Dead: Picking a favorite TV-show is hard. I like many different ones.

5) Old School: Everyone knows I'm a Ric Flair-fan but my all-time favorite is Rick "The Model" Martel. A great worker who seems to be forgotten by the WWE and the fans (he wasn't in any games yet, never gets mentioned, is not in the HoF yet...)

So, the first couple of questions have been answered, looking forward to more. BRING IT ON!

What is the good and bad difference between the Wrestling from the 90`s to now, in your eyes?

The difference between wrestling in the '90s and now. There are many.
Back in the days, wrestlers were more larger-than-life (and I don't mean just the size). When a wrestler talked to you back then (if they did), it was something special. Now, especially on the Indy scene, wrestlers want to be friends with the fans, they want to be too close to them. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fans but it's like with actors or singers, wrestlers should be a bit higher than the fans. That's why some of the magic is gone. It's also why we see too many skinny or fat kids in sportshoes, t-shirts and cut-off jeans in the ring (or in pleather pants, t-shirts and kickpads).
Another big difference is that back in the day, every wrestler had his own trademark moves and you wouldn't see anyone else use them. That made everybody stand out. These days, you see an event with six matches, in five of them, you'll see (the same) headscissors, moonsaults, hurricanrana's and dives outside. Nobody stands out anymore. That's why people loose interest, especially the casual fan (which is the one you want to get in). It's like eating a 5-course meal, if you have steak in every course, it won't be special anymore in the end.
There are more differences but, for me, those are important.
